National Junior Tennis and Learning of Fort Collins is dedicated to develop the character of young people through tennis and to emphasize the ideals and life of Arthur Ashe. NJTL FC provides free or low-cost tennis and education programming to more than 200 under-resourced youth in Northern Colorado.

Arthur Ashe Essay Contest – we had two of our middle school players entered the Arthur Ashe Essay Contest (AAEC). GREAT NEWS is that Isabell Cluett our high school entry, won the Intermountain Section AAEC for G 15-16 and her essay was submitted for the National Championships with a chance to win a trip to NYC for Arthur Ashe Kids Day.

We are so proud of our first ever Intermountain Section AAEC Winner. CONGRATS Izzy !!

Izzy, as we call her, is a first generation Mexican-American, is bilingual, and has the goal of becoming a teaching professional. She already has attended USTA 10 U Workshops and a number of other trainings. She volunteers for NJTL programs at the Boys and Girls Club and the Middle School Leadership program at Lincoln Middle School and helps with the SERVES Leadership units.

“Our idea is to use tennis as a way to gain and hold the attention of young people in the inner cities and other poor environments so that we can teach them about matters more important than tennis…”
