A SERVES leadership lesson on

Integrity: The Power of Doing What’s Right.

Andy Roddick was the #1 seed and playing Fernando Verdasco in the quarterfinals of the Rome Masters Tennis Championships. Roddick had won the first set and was up 5-3 in the second set and had triple match point when Verdasco double faulted. But Roddick refused to accept the point and said the serve had nicked the line.

The stunned umpire let Roddick overrule him and gave Verdasco an ace. Verdasco went on to save the other two match points, won the game, the 2nd set, and the third set. Final score 6-7(1), 7-6 (3) 6-4. “I didn’t think it was anything extraordinary,” said Roddick.

We call that SPORTSMANSHIP and INTEGRITY — – Andy was just doing what’s right!
